In the right hands, fingerprinting hardly takes 20 minutes. But finding reliable fingerprinting services in Jakarta that meet strict international standards like those set by the FBI and RCMP can be a tricky task. Everyone says they do it. Very few get it right.
Some applicants even try embassies or local centres, not realising that standard fingerprinting in Jakarta rarely meets the quality standards for international requirements. The result? Rejected submissions, missed deadlines, and costly resubmissions.
Here’s the part nobody tells you upfront: Jakarta does have fingerprinting services that give you the quality prints the requesting authority demands. You just need to know which ones exist, why they’re different, and where to find them. Read on to find out.
Jakarta’s active international community regularly faces strict background check criteria. Because foreign authorities do not accept local digital scans from outside their borders, physical, ink-rolled prints are usually mandatory for:
Where Your Fingerprints Need to Go from Jakarta
| Type of Check | Issuing Authority | Where Your Prints Go (Physical Submission Address) |
| FBI Identity History Summary | FBI CJIS Division | Clarksburg, West Virginia, USA |
| RCMP Criminal Record Check | RCMP CCRTIS | Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (Only through an accredited entity) |
| Australian National Police Check (AFP) | Australian Federal Police | Canberra, Australia (or via accredited broker) |
| ACRO Police Certificate (UK) | ACRO Criminal Records Office | Liverpool, United Kingdom |
| Other Country‑Specific Documents | Respective national authority | Varies by country. Check with the requesting agency |
When you need physical fingerprints for international requirements, you have three main options in Jakarta:
1. Mabes Polri (Indonesian National Police Headquarters)
2. Foreign Embassies (The Most Common Misconception)
3. Accredited Private & Mobile Services (The Specialist Route)
The primary reason Jakarta applicants face rejection is lack of precision during fingerprinting. International agencies use automated biometric software to scan physical cards. If your prints have any of the following, the computer flags them:
What to Do Before Your Appointment
You must arrive prepared to ensure the most legible fingerprints on the first try:
1. Get the correct physical cards
If using an ink-and-roll service, buy or print official, high-quality FD-258/FD-1164 cards, or other forms as per your specific requirements on heavy cardstock. Do not print them on standard A4 paper.
2. Prepare your hands
Moisturize your hands heavily the night before. On the day of, wash your hands with cold water right before the session to minimize sweat and oil.
3. Bring identification documents
Always carry your original Passport and your KITAS/KITAP (if an expat) or KTP (if an Indonesian citizen). Local authorities will not roll prints without official verification.

If you’ve never submitted fingerprints overseas before, the rejection reasons can feel trivial. A smudge. A tiny gap. A stamp in the wrong corner. But to agencies like the FBI and RCMP, these aren’t minor flaws.
Jakarta is a city of 33 million people with a large international community, significant corporate presence, and constant movement of professionals across borders. Given all of that, you might expect internationally accredited fingerprinting services to be easy to find. They are not.
Then there is Jakarta's traffic. Travelling from Kemang to Sudirman, or from BSD City to Menteng, for a single appointment is a significant time commitment in a city where a 10-kilometre journey can take over an hour. For busy professionals and corporate teams, this friction alone becomes a reason to delay and delays in fingerprinting submissions have real compliance consequences.
The result is a city full of people who need internationally compliant fingerprinting services and very few places that can actually provide them.
One provider that has solved this for Jakarta’s international community is Globeia. Here’s how our approach is changing the experience.
Mobile Fingerprinting Services in Jakarta
Globeia Jakarta offers mobile fingerprinting services, in which a trained associate comes to you. Doesn’t matter if you are based in the financial district of Sudirman or Kuningan or the growing business corridors of BSD City in Tangerang, Globeia brings the appointment to your location at a time that works for you.
Appointments are available with flexible scheduling, including early mornings and evenings, to accommodate Jakarta's demanding professional calendar. Each appointment takes 15-20 minutes on average.
Comparing Jakarta Fingerprinting Services: Local Stations vs. Specialist Provider
| Feature / Requirement | Mabes Polri (Local Police) | Foreign Embassies | Globeia’s Mobile Service |
| Primary Fingerprint Purpose | Domestic clearance (SKCK) | Consular tasks | International checks (FBI, RCMP, FINRA) |
| Card Compatibility | Standard Indonesian paper forms | N/A (Rarely offer public printing) | Official FD-258/FD-1164 & C-216C or equivalent cardstock |
| Fingerprint Method | Standard local ink-and-roll | None | High-definition, non-smudge forensic ink |
| Rejection Risk Protection | Low international training; high possibility of smudges | N/A | On-site quality check before dispatching cards |
| Location & Travel | Must go through heavy South Jakarta traffic | Appointment only (Narrow windows) | Mobile service (Comes to your home or office) |
Step 1: Schedule Your Appointment Online
Fill out the SmartForm with your legal details exactly as they appear on your passport or ID. Select the background check you need, like FBI, RCMP, or any other international check, and choose a time and location anywhere in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek). Before your appointment is confirmed, you’ll complete a secure Face ID verification, linking the application directly to you.
If your FBI Identity History Summary is required for official use in Indonesia, apostille coordination is available.
Step 2: Have Your Essential Documents Ready
Keep two valid government-issued IDs on hand, at least one with a photo. For most applicants, that means your passport plus your KITAS, KITAP, or KTP. The Globeia associate will verify your identity against these documents when they arrive. We bring the correct cards to you.
Step 3: Fingerprint Capture at Your Location
A trained associate arrives at your home, office, or chosen spot with official fingerprint cards, like FD-258 or FD-1164 for the FBI, C-216C or equivalent for the RCMP, and country‑specific cards for other checks. Using forensic black ink, they roll each finger nail‑to‑nail across the designated blocks, then capture flat impressions of all four fingers and thumbs together. They also do a quality check before leaving.
Step 4: Letter of Identity Verification
At the end of your appointment, you receive a Letter of Identity Verification containing an encrypted QR code. It serves as professional proof that your fingerprints were collected under rigorous identity protocols. It can be useful for your own records or for any requesting body that needs confirmation of the capture process.
The Letter of Identity Verification is not issued by, endorsed by, or affiliated with the RCMP, the FBI, or any government authority.
Step 5: Secure Submission Coordination
You don’t mail the cards yourself. Globeia’s team in Jakarta couriers your completed ink cards to their processing hubs:
For RCMP Criminal Record Checks: Cards are sent to Globeia Incorporated in Toronto (RCMP‑accredited), where they are converted to digital files and submitted electronically to the RCMP’s CCRTIS system. For FBI Background Checks: Cards are couriered directly to Globeia Inc. in the United States for processing and submission to the FBI CJIS Division. We have a network across the US, UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and 100+ countries to coordinate fingerprint collection and submission to the relevant authorities.
Step 6: Track and Receive Your Results
Once your cards are dispatched, you can follow the internal status of your shipment and submission through Globeia’s SmartPortal. After the RCMP or FBI completes its processing, your results are delivered according to the option you selected, securely and directly back to you.
What happens if you have a scarred finger, a temporary hand injury, or naturally faint fingerprint ridges due to age? Many applicants assume these unique situations mean an automatic rejection.
But according to official guidelines, like those from the FBI's CJIS Division, these special circumstances can be handled if your fingerprint technician utilizes the proper, mandated procedures:
| Condition | Official FBI Protocol | Action Required |
| Worn / Faint Ridges | Use light ink and minimal pressure. | Use "milking technique" (massage finger downward) to raise ridges. |
| Scars / Cuts | Record the finger normally. | No notations needed. The scanner reads the scar as a unique identifier. |
| Temporary Injury | Mark the physical condition. | Write "bandaged," "injured," or "paralyzed" inside the specific block. |
| Amputation | Mark the missing digit clearly. | Write "AMP" (or missing at birth / severed) inside the block. |
| Partial Amputation | Capture remaining ridge patterns. | Roll whatever part of the first joint is still physically present. |
| Extra Fingers | Ignore the additional digit. | Record only the standard thumb and next four fingers. |
Important: Inexperienced providers often leave these unique boxes blank or fill them out incorrectly, which triggers an instant, automated rejection when the card is scanned at the FBI facility in West Virginia. Ensuring your provider understands these exact notation parameters is important.
Jakarta deserves internationally compliant fingerprinting services that match the scale and diversity of its professional community. For too long, expats and Indonesian nationals alike have been left navigating a fragmented process, confused by the difference between SKCK and international background checks, struggling to find providers who understand FBI and RCMP standards, and losing weeks to rejected submissions and resubmissions.
Ink fingerprinting done right, mobile, and managed end-to-end, that is what the Jakarta community needs, and that is exactly what Globeia delivers.
Whether you need an FBI Background Check, an RCMP Criminal Record Check, FINRA fingerprinting, or simply need professionally captured ink fingerprints without crossing the city in Jakarta traffic, Globeia is ready to come to you.
