Who needs an RCMP criminal record check in Switzerland?
Canadian citizens or expats living in Switzerland, and even Swiss nationals who have spent a significant amount of time in Canada, may need a fingerprint-verified RCMP criminal record check. This is common when applying for a Swiss residence permit or citizenship, extending your stay here, or applying to live in a completely different country from Switzerland altogether, such as the USA, Australia, the UK, or New Zealand.
How are my fingerprints taken in Switzerland for a Canadian criminal record check?
We offer mobile fingerprinting across Switzerland. One of our trained associates comes to your location, takes your fingerprints in the correct format required by the RCMP, and sends everything to Canada directly. If you prefer, you can also visit a local Swiss police station or fingerprinting agency and mail the physical cards to us.
Who submits my fingerprints to the RCMP from Switzerland?
Your fingerprints are couriered securely to Canada and submitted by Globeia Incorporated, our own RCMP-accredited office in Toronto. We do not use third-party agents. Your documents stay within one chain in the entire process.
Are digital or electronic fingerprints accepted from Switzerland?
No, from outside Canada, only ink-based fingerprints are accepted. That’s why we offer ink-and-roll fingerprinting services in Switzerland. Once your physical fingerprint cards reach our office in Canada, they are digitized and submitted electronically to the RCMP. You do not need to arrange this or digitize them yourself.
Does Globeia work with Swiss authorities?
Our fingerprinting associates in Switzerland are trained to work with the formats and standards required by the RCMP. If you choose to get fingerprinted at a Swiss police station instead, we provide you with the fingerprinting cards and the complete kit, so you can get fingerprinted there.
When will I receive my RCMP criminal record check in Switzerland?
It can take anywhere from 3 to 10 days for the RCMP to process your results, if no results are found under your fingerprint. This can also stretch to 120 days, as per the verification process, requirements, and workload of RCMP. This is only the processing time; also factor in the international mailing time. Globeia cannot expedite this time, but we keep the process on our end as fast as possible.
Is my personal information kept secure?
Yes. Since Globeia Incorporated in Canada is our own office and not a third-party service, your fingerprints and documents are handled within one chain the entire time. There are no unnecessary handovers or outside companies involved.
