Need international fingerprinting in Indore for an FBI, RCMP, or other background check? Learn where to get fingerprinted, which cards different authorities require, what documents to prepare, and how the process works. This blog also covers costs, international submission, apostille, translation, and common fingerprinting mistakes.
If you need international fingerprinting in Indore, you can contact a local police station, visit a private fingerprinting agency, or book a mobile service that comes to your home or office. The fingerprints are usually recorded in black ink on the official card required by the international authority, such as the FBI's FD-258 or FD-1164 for the USA or the C-216C for Canada.
The quality of your fingerprints matters just as much as choosing the correct card. Smudged prints, incomplete fields, and incorrect details can lead to rejection and another round of fingerprinting. This blog covers what to check before your appointment, which documents to carry, and how to choose a provider who can review your prints before you leave.
These are the four questions people in Indore ask us first:
| Question | Quick Answer |
| Isn't my police clearance certificate the same thing? | No. An Indian Criminal Record Check only shows your record in India. A fingerprint check from the FBI or RCMP shows your record in the USA or Canada. If you lived in those countries, you usually need both. |
| Who is allowed to take my fingerprints? | An experienced, trained professional who has done this many times, or an established fingerprinting business. They roll all ten fingers in black ink, then print their name, sign and write their agency on the card. A friend or an untrained shop clerk is a risk. |
| Which card, which form? | It depends on the country. USA: FD-258 or FD-1164. Canada: C-216C. Other countries have their own forms or accept a standard one. |
| How do I pay in foreign currency from India? | Turn on international use for your Indian card first. Your provider can also take payment through an international payment link. |

International fingerprinting means getting your fingerprints taken in India on an official card, so an international government can search its own criminal records for a match. It is different from a local police verification, and it has nothing to do with the biometrics you gave for Aadhaar.
Fingerprints work because they belong to one person. A name can be shared by thousands of people, but your ten fingerprints cannot be mixed up with anyone else's. That is why immigration offices and licensing bodies ask for them.
The prints must be on the original card, in black ink, with all ten fingers rolled and also pressed flat. Authorities abroad do not accept a scan or a photocopy of the card. What you get back is a report from that country's police or federal agency. For the USA it is the FBI Identity History Summary. For Canada it is the RCMP Criminal Record Check. You then give this report to the embassy, university, employer or immigration office that asked for it.
The checks you need depend on where you have lived, not only where you are going. Most authorities ask for a certificate from every country where you lived for six months or more. Some count shorter stays, so read your instruction letter carefully.
Have you lived outside India? → Which countries? → Which checks? |
Answer these three questions in order and you have your list of checks.
Say you finished your degree in the USA, then worked on a project in Australia for eight months, and now you are back in Indore applying for Canadian PR. Your list would be:
Canada would only need its own RCMP criminal record check if you had also lived there for six months or more. Each report comes from a different office, so start them in parallel.

Who Needs Fingerprinting in Indore
If any of these sound like you, a fingerprint check is probably on your list.
Most delays start with something a friend or an agent said that turned out to be wrong. These are the six myths we hear most often, and what is actually true.
Myth: "My Indian Criminal Record Check is enough for every country."
Fact: Your Criminal Record Check only shows your record in India. It tells a foreign office nothing about the years you spent in the USA or Canada. Those countries want their own report, based on your fingerprints. If you lived abroad for six months or more, expect a separate check for each country, plus your Indian Criminal Record Check.
Myth: "Any police station or notary can take my fingerprints."
Fact: Many stations do not take prints for international agencies, and most notaries have no training. Rolling a finger properly takes practice, and a poor roll is one of the most common reasons for rejection. The person must roll all ten fingers and then sign the card with their name and agency, so choose someone who does this regularly.
Also Check Do Expunged Records Show Up On Fingerprinting?
Myth: "A scan or photocopy of the card will do."
Fact: The FBI and the RCMP need the original ink card. Scans, photos and photocopies are not accepted. Keep the card flat and clean, do not add extra marks to it, and send it exactly as it was handed to you.
Myth: "I can pay extra and get my result faster."
Fact: The authority sets the timeline, and no provider can speed it up. The FBI does not sell faster service either. What you can control is the start. Get your prints taken early, send the card early and avoid errors that force a repeat, because courier time from India already adds several days.
Myth: "If my prints are rejected, I must have a criminal record."
Fact: A rejection usually means the prints were smudged or too light, or a field on the card was left blank. It says nothing about your record. You just need a fresh set. Tell the technician before they start if your hands are dry or your fingertips are worn, and ask for a spare set in the same visit.
Learn More My Fingerprints Were Rejected: What Should I Do?
Myth: "Once I have the report, it is valid forever."
Fact: International authorities set no expiry date on its report, but embassies and immigration offices set their own limits. Many accept only recent reports. Check the validity window in your instruction letter before you apply, so you do not pay for a report that is too old by the time you submit it.
Indore has more than one place to try, but they are not equal for overseas checks. What matters is how often the person rolling your fingers does this, and whether the card leaves with their name, signature and agency written on it.
Option 1: Local Police Station or District Office
Some police stations take fingerprints for visa and clearance cases, but practice differs from one station to the next. Applicants tend to get sent from one office to another, so call ahead and ask if they will print on an internationally compliant fingerprint card and sign it.
Carry two government IDs, the instruction letter from the authority, and a few blank cards in case the station has none. Ask the officer to write their name, station and signature on the card.
Option 2: Private Fingerprinting Agencies
A private agency is the next choice when a station turns you away. Quality varies, so pick one that handles international cards every week and has an address you can visit. Call or walk in before you pay, and ask these four questions:
Option 3: Mobile Fingerprinting by Globeia
Globeia sends a trained associate to your home or office anywhere in Indore, from Vijay Nagar and Palasia to Super Corridor and Rau. The mobile service also reaches nearby towns such as Dewas, Ujjain, Pithampur and Mhow. The associate brings the official cards and black ink, and checks every print before leaving. You also get a Letter of Identity Verification with a QR code, which shows the prints were taken after an ID check.

Globeia's booking process is entirely digital and 100% paperless. From booking and ID verification to forms, payment and tracking, you can get everything done from the comfort of your home, and the associate comes to you.
This is how Globeia in Indore works:
Step 1: Log into SmartPortal
Create your SmartPortal account and fill in the SmartForm. Choose the check you need (FBI, RCMP or another country), your address in Indore and a time slot. The form puts your name, date of birth and reason for the check in the format the authority expects, which avoids the blank or wrong fields that cause rejections. You must book your own appointment, because nobody else can book it for you.
Step 2: Face ID Verification
Before your appointment is confirmed, SmartPortal asks for a quick face scan along with your government ID. The scan is matched to your ID, so Globeia knows the person booking is the person who will be fingerprinted. This is the first of two ID checks. The second happens at your door.
Step 3: Associate Arrives on Location
At your time slot, a trained associate arrives with the correct official cards and black ink. Keep two government IDs handy to show them. At least one should show your photo, name, date of birth and signature, like a passport. Keep a recent proof of address ready too, such as a rental agreement or a bank statement from the last three months.
The associate checks your IDs, cleans your hands and rolls each finger. Plan on 20 to 30 minutes per person, and pick a spot with a clean, well-lit table.

Step 4: Quality Reviews
The associate reviews every print before leaving, looking for smudges, light ridges and empty fields on the card. Any weak print is retaken on the spot.
When the card passes, you receive a Letter of Identity Verification. It carries a QR code that an authority can scan to confirm your prints were taken by a trained officer after an ID check.
Step 5: Submission-Ready Card Handover
Your completed card is handed to you with every field filled and signed. You then have two choices. You can submit it to the authority yourself, or Globeia can courier it to its offices abroad and submit it for you.
Ask for a spare set during the same visit. With a backup, you can avoid a second appointment if the first set is rejected.
Fingerprinting is only the first step. The card still has to reach the right office, the report may need an apostille, and some offices want a translation. Each step has its own rules, and one missed step can send you back to the start.
Submission to Authorities Abroad like FBI or RCMP
The authority needs your original card, not a scan. For the FBI, you file an online request, mail the card with your confirmation printout and pay the fee. For the RCMP criminal record check, an applicant outside Canada cannot mail the card to the RCMP directly. An accredited company in Canada converts the card to digital form and submits it for you.
How Globeia helps: Your fingerprint cards can be couriered to our processing offices and teams abroad for direct submission to federal authorities on your behalf. You can follow each step in SmartPortal.
Federal Apostille
An apostille is a certificate from the government that issued your document. It confirms the signature and seal are real, so countries that follow the Hague Apostille Convention accept the document without extra checks. Each country has its own office:
Translation into Hindi or English, if needed
Some offices want your documents in a particular language. A certified translation comes with a signed statement from the translator that it is accurate, and some offices also want it notarized. The order matters too. Some countries want the original apostilled first and then translated, so check this with the receiving office before you pay for either.
How Globeia helps: Translation into the required language, including Hindi, English, French, Spanish, German and Arabic, and 50+ official languages, by professional and certified translators.
These are approximate ranges for 2026, and they change from provider to provider and from country to country.
