Fingerprinting in Costa Rica for FBI, RCMP and More: Launching Soon, Taking Requests Now
Globeia has launched fingerprinting in Costa Rica. Request an appointment and an associate will come to your home, office or hotel in San José, Escazú, Santa Ana, Heredia, Atenas and Tamarindo, and other places. You can pick a time that suits you.
If you live in Costa Rica and need an FBI, RCMP, or other overseas background check, we can help from the first step to last. We take your fingerprints, then our own offices in the U.S. and Canada manage the submission and apostille. No third party gets your documents.
✓Launching in Costa Rica, taking appointment requests now
✓FBI, RCMP and international police clearances, the same service as in our live markets
✓Submission, apostille and sworn translation through our own U.S. and Canadian offices
StatusLaunching, taking requests now
Coverage18 towns and areas, more by arrangement
AccreditedRCMP-accredited Canadian office, FBI-compliant U.S. office
Free and without obligation. Nothing is paid until you have a confirmed date and an estimate you are happy with. Face ID and government ID check at every visit, and a Letter of Identity Verification with every completed appointment.
Where we will visit
Launching in the Central Valley and Tamarindo First. Every Coast by Arrangement.
Every visit is booked straight to your door. Our route opens first in the Central Valley and Tamarindo, while outer regions like Jacó, Nosara, and Manuel Antonio are added to our itinerary with any travel costs agreed on beforehand.
Tamarindo, Playas del Coco, Liberia, Nosara and Santa Teresa. Among the first visits as we go live, at your home, your office or a meeting room we arrange.
Not in the list? Every town in Costa Rica can be covered by arrangement. Send a request with your town and preferred timing, or ask us a question first, and we will plan the nearest possible visit.
Request now, and be among the first visits when we go live.
We are opening Costa Rica in order of request. Your request costs nothing and commits you to nothing; it tells us where the first visits are needed and secures your place in the first schedule.
1Step 1
Send your request.
Your address, the clearances you need and when you would like the visit. Nothing to pay.
2Step 2
We reply within 24 hours.
As soon as we can serve your area, we send a confirmed date and a written estimate listing the plan, government fees at cost and any travel fee.
3Step 3
Confirm, and we come to you.
Pay only once you are happy with the estimate. Your prints then go to our own offices in the U.S. and Canada, and you follow every step in Globeia SmartPortal.
A real company, with real offices
Handled directly by the U.S. and Canada Offices
Our local associate meets you to record your prints, and processing starts immediately through Globeia’s offices in Washington, DC and Toronto.
Our own offices, Globeia Inc. in Washington, DC and Globeia Incorporated in Toronto, submit every FBI and RCMP file.
Three questions to ask any fingerprinting provider
The answers tell you whether your file will be done to the authority's rules, or to nobody's.
1
Where is my FBI application sent from, and who checks the card before it leaves Costa Rica?
Globeia Inc. in Washington, DC submits it to the FBI CJIS Division from inside the United States, after a trained associate in Costa Rica has reviewed every impression on your FD-258 or FD-1164 card.
2
Who orders the apostille and the Spanish translation, and in what order?
Our own offices order the U.S. Department of State apostille or the Global Affairs Canada apostille first, then the sworn Spanish translation the Directorate General of Migration (DGME) generally expects, so nothing is done twice. One file, one reference, one invoice.
3
Who will actually take my fingerprints in Costa Rica?
A trained Globeia associate visits your home, office or hotel, first in San José, Escazú, Santa Ana and Heredia, checks your face against your government ID and reviews every impression before the card leaves. While we launch, each visit is confirmed in writing, with its date and estimate, before you pay.
A fingerprint card taken without reference to the authority's standards is just ink on paper: the wrong card stock, a missing rolled impression or an empty "taken by" box, and the application comes back weeks later. Our associates are trained on exactly those criteria.

On the day
What happens before and during the visit, so there are no surprises
Clients often tell us they want to know exactly what will happen before they book. Here it is, step by step.
Before the visit
1Confirmation by email with your associate's name, the arrival window and what to prepare: two forms of identification and a table to work at.
2A reminder the day before, with a direct contact for the associate on the day.
3Change the time if you need to. We ask only for reasonable notice; the terms are in your confirmation.
During the visit · 15 to 30 minutes per person
1Arrival at the agreed time. The associate presents Globeia identification.
2Identity check. Passport or residence card, plus a Face ID match.
3Fingerprinting on the correct card. Each impression is checked on the spot and retaken if needed, at no extra charge.
4Your Letter of Identity Verification is issued.
5Cards couriered to Globeia Inc. or Globeia Incorporated. Tracking appears in your SmartPortal.

How to tell a one-step fingerprint shop, or an online "all-in-one" website, from a provider that can actually run the whole process
Local shops do one thing well: they take prints, in one city. Online services promise everything and own nothing. Globeia is the only provider with its own offices at both ends of your file.

RCMP accreditation is held exclusively by Globeia Incorporated in Toronto, Canada. Globeia in Costa Rica is not RCMP-accredited, and Globeia is not endorsed by the RCMP, the FBI, FINRA, or any government authority. Fingerprints for the RCMP Criminal Record Check are collected in ink on the official C-216C form and mailed to Globeia Incorporated in Toronto, which submits them to the RCMP. All Criminal Record Checks, FBI Identity History Summaries and regulatory results are issued directly by the respective authority, not Globeia.
One clearance, two ways to get it
Meet Jennifer. She lives in Costa Rica and needs an FBI Background Check for her Costa Rican residency.
Jennifer is a composite of the clients Globeia serves in its live markets: an American retiree near Escazú. Here is how the clearance goes when she does the fingerprints and manages the rest alone, and how it goes when Globeia runs the whole file.
On her own
Fingerprints in Costa Rica, everything else by post and email
Week 1
Gets fingerprinted locally.
A local police station or shop rolls the FD-258 card, and Jennifer posts it to a U.S. vendor she has never spoken to.
Week 4
Card rejected.
Two impressions are unreadable. Nobody checked before it shipped. Back to step one.
Week 7
Result arrives, without the apostille.
Jennifer now has to find someone in the U.S. to obtain the U.S. Department of State apostille and post the original again.
Week 12
Apostille back. Translation refused.
The translator she found is not one the Directorate General of Migration (DGME) accepts: the file needs a sworn Spanish translation.
Week 15
Finally files.
Four providers, four invoices, and months gone.
With Globeia
One visit in San José, one file, one team
Day 1
Requests a visit, pays once.
Identity checked at her door in San José, prints reviewed on the spot, Letter of Identity Verification issued.
Week 1
Card lands at Globeia Washington, DC.
Submitted to the FBI by our own team. Jennifer follows it in Globeia SmartPortal.
Week 3
Result received and checked.
The U.S. Department of State apostille requested the same day, no re-posting, no new provider.
Week 6
Sworn Spanish translation done.
By a translator the Directorate General of Migration (DGME) accepts, ordered after the apostille so nothing is done twice.
Week 7
Ready-to-file clearance in hand.
One invoice, one reference, and the file ready for her Costa Rican residency.

Fingerprinting in Costa Rica: Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we hear most often from Costa Rica. Not here? Book a free consultation.
We are opening Costa Rica in order of request. Send a free appointment request with your town and when you need the visit; we reply within 24 hours, and as soon as we can serve your area we send a confirmed date and a written estimate. Nothing is paid until you accept it.
At your home, office or hotel. The first visits are planned in San José, Escazú, Santa Ana, Heredia, Atenas and Tamarindo, with Grecia, Playas del Coco, Liberia, Nosara, Santa Teresa and other towns by arrangement. The directory on this page lists every town and area we will cover, region by region. Not in the list? Send a request with your town and we will plan the nearest possible visit.
In most cases, yes. Pensionado, rentista, inversionista and most other residence files generally need a criminal record certificate from your country of origin or recent residence, apostilled and translated into Spanish by an official translator authorised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The certificate usually has to be recent when you file, so check the validity rule with the DGME or your residency lawyer before you order.
No. The hoja de delincuencia, or certificado de antecedentes penales, is issued by the Registro Judicial of the judiciary and covers Costa Rica only. A police certificate from the United States, Canada or another country you lived in needs your fingerprints on that country's own form, and that is what Globeia takes.
Yes. We take your prints on an FD-258 or FD-1164 card wherever you are in Costa Rica, and the card goes to Globeia in Washington, DC. Our own staff submit it to the FBI, check the result and arrange the U.S. Department of State apostille and any translation your file needs. You can follow every step in Globeia SmartPortal.
Yes, by arrangement. Visits to Playas del Coco, Liberia, Nosara, Santa Teresa, Jacó, Manuel Antonio, Uvita, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Cahuita, La Fortuna and the Arenal area are planned around your dates, with any travel fee shown in writing in your estimate before you pay.
Yes. We take your prints on the C-216C form, and Globeia Incorporated in Toronto, which holds the RCMP accreditation, submits the file. When the result arrives, we arrange the Global Affairs Canada apostille and any translation your file needs.
Yes. Several people at one address in Costa Rica are fingerprinted in one visit and share one travel fee: families, couples, crews and teams. Tell us in the notes of your request how many people will be fingerprinted, and each person gets their own cards and Letter of Identity Verification.
15 to 30 minutes from the moment the associate arrives. We check your ID against your face, roll each finger on the card and check every impression before we leave, so the card is not rejected later.
The FBI Background Check, the RCMP Criminal Record Check, and police clearances for South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, India, the Gulf and many other countries. We take your prints on the card or form each authority requires, and confirm the route and price before you pay.
Yes. Every completed appointment comes with a Letter of Identity Verification. It confirms who was fingerprinted, when and by whom, and carries an encrypted QR code that anyone you send it to can check.
